In den Lesesälen am Heldenplatz gelten während der Weihnachtsfeiertage mit Ausnahme 24. und 31. Dezember sowie an gesetzlichen Feiertagen die regulären Öffnungszeiten. Die Lesesäle der Sammlungen haben zwischen 29. Dezember 2025 und 5. Jänner 2026 hingegen nur von 9 bis 13 Uhr geöffnet.

Visit one of the most beautiful historical libraries in the world. Emperor Charles VI induced the construction of this jewel of secular baroque architecture for his court library. Built in 1723, the State Hall with its 200,000 works of letterpress printing from 500 years conveys the authentic image of the baroque universal library of the 18th century.
