In 2015, the Literature Museum opened at the ‘Grillparzerhaus’, the former Royal and Imperial Court Chamber at No. 6 Johannesgasse. Its name derives from the office of its former director Franz Grillparzer, which has survived in its original condition. On two floors, it presents more than 200 years of Austrian history of literature through particularly fascinating objects from the Austrian National Library’s Literary Archive. Moreover, temporary exhibitions take place on a regular basis.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, there will be downtimes in the Quick Search catalogue between 8 pm and midnight due to maintenance work. Thank you for your understanding.
