The Austrian National Library has a rich and diverse collection of prints in Arabic script. It owns works in several languages (mainly Arabic, Turkish and Persian) printed in Asia, North Africa and Europe. With the cataloging of the printed works in the court library from the middle of the 19th century, this collection was also cataloged according to the rules of the time. No matter how carefully the librarians of the time worked, a lot has changed since then. Today, transliteration is carried out according to the rules that are binding for the German-speaking area (DIN standard 31635 according to the regulations of the German Oriental Society), modern research facilities make it easier to identify works and improve and enrich data. As a result, the catalogs of these prints can now be successively optimized.
