Starting August 1, 2025, the State Hall will open at 9 a.m.
Annual maintenance work will take place again this summer, which is why the reading rooms at the Heldenplatz location and in all collections will be closed from Friday, July 25, to Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Due to the shutdown of the ordering system, no media orders can be accepted from Thursday, July 24, 2025, 4 p.m. to Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 4 p.m. The regular opening hours will then apply again from Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Due to a partial, police-ordered closure of Heldenplatz, there will be restrictions on visits to the reading rooms and museum facilities of the Austrian National Library on Heldenplatz from July 9 to 11, daily between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The reading rooms on Heldenplatz, in the Literature Archive and in the Picture Archive and Graphics Department, the Papyrus Museum and the House of Austrian History can be entered on presentation of annual passes, admission tickets or confirmations of previously booked guided tours.
The police also grant entry to people without tickets - in this case, however, with a police escort.
