Janet Evanovich stammt aus South River, New Yersey, und lebt heute in Fairfax, Virginia. Sie hatte bereits eine Serie von romantischen Frauenroman veröffentlicht, bevor sie sich dem Krimi zuwandte. Für ihren ersten Stephanie-Plum-Roman "One for the Money" erhielt sie den Crime Writers' Association James Creasey Memorial Award und den Dylies Award. Ihr zweiter Roman "Two for the Dough" wurde für den Last Laugh Award nominiert. Im Juni 1999 wird ihr fünftes Buch "High Five" erscheinen.
